Countdown to the Castle (private family trip site) · Effective June 11, 2026

Countdown to the Castle is a private, invitation-only website used by one family to plan a family trip. It is not a commercial service, it has no advertising, and it collects no information from the general public. This policy describes what information the site holds about its invited members and how that information is used.

What we collect

• Member names (first names or nicknames) used to show who posted or joined what.
• Email addresses, provided by each member, used for sign-in verification and optional email alerts.
• Mobile phone numbers, only for members who choose to receive text alerts.
• Content members post on the site: messages, activity sign-ups, travel days, and preferences.
• Basic usage counts (such as visits and pages opened) used by the site's administrator to keep the site working well for the family.

How it is used

This information is used solely to operate the site for our family: showing the trip schedule, delivering messages between members, and sending notifications (by email or text message) that a member has personally turned on. It is not used for any other purpose.

What we never do

• We do not sell personal information, ever.
• We do not share personal information with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.
• Mobile phone numbers and text-message opt-in consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties; our delivery provider processes messages solely on our behalf.
• We use service providers (such as our text-message delivery provider) solely to transmit the messages described here; they do not receive member information for their own use.

Text alerts and your choices

Text alerts are off by default. A member receives texts only after turning on "Text alerts" in their own profile on the site. You can stop at any time by turning the setting off, or by replying STOP to any message. Settings for minors are managed by their parents or guardians.

Retention and removal

Information is kept only as long as the site is in use for trip planning. Any member may ask the site administrator to correct or remove their information at any time.
